Genome ID

A genome ID consists of a genome's taxon ID followed by a decimal point and a version number, as shown in the diagram on the left. The genome ID is used throughout the NMPDR to identify genomes. In the Genome Control (and in many other places), the genome ID is displayed as part of the organism name, as shown below.



The genome ID is also part of a gene's FIG ID. This makes it very easy to determine the host organism for a gene. For example, fig|100226.1.peg.3361 is easily identifiable as a gene for Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2).
